Gazley Garners Player of the Week Honor

Elmira Jackals rookie forward Dustin Gazley has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 2 - 8, the league announced on Tuesday.
Gazley was instrumental in helping the Jackals extend their winning streak to nine games this past week as Elmira prevailed in all three of its contests. The Novi, Mich. native posted a career-high three assists and four points in Elmira's 4-1 victory on Saturday over the Cincinnati Cyclones. Gazley contributed a goal in both the Jackals' 3-2 win over the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday and Elmira's 4-3 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday, while also scoring in the shootout in the weekend finale against the Cyclones. He totaled three goals and three assists for six points and was +3 on the week.
The 23-year old leads all ECHL rookies with 23 assists and is third among first-year players with 32 points.
Prior to turning pro, Gazley skated collegiately at Michigan State University (NCAA, D-I) from 2006-2010, accumulating 73 points (30g-43a) in his four seasons.
Gazley is the eigth Jackal to win this award since the club joined the ECHL for the 2007-2008 season.
On behalf of Gazley, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-2001, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
The Jackals search for a 10th-straight win on Friday when they head to Reading to battle the Royals. Elmira returns home to host South Carolina on Saturday and Trenton on Sunday at First Arena.
