HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Saskatoon Blades scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Medicine Hat Tigers 3-1 on Friday night at the Canalta Centre in Medicine Hat. Josh Williams opened the scoring in the first period for the Tigers with his 3rd of the season. Former Tiger Max Gerlach tied the game with his team leading 13th goal of the season late in the second period on the power play. Another former Tiger Gary Haden scored what would be the eventual game winner in the 3rd period, his 5th of the season. Then Riley McKay added insurance with his 4th of the season into an empty net late in the third.
TURNING POINT
Max Gerlach's game tying power play goal came with 2:03 left in the 2nd period. In what was such a tight game with both goaltenders playing sharp, the former Tiger turned things in the Blades favour heading into the third period.
TOP PERFORMERS
Nolan Maier had a bounce back performance making 35 saves for his 9th win of the season, and was also named the 1st star of the game.
Tristen Robins had 2 assists; his 1st multi-point game of his career.
Max Gerlach scored the game tying goal, his team leading 13th, 5th goal in his last 3 games, and had 7 shots on net.
NOTEWORTHY NUMBERS
Kirby Dach's power play assist was his league leading 12th power play assist, tied with Cody Glass of Portland.
Max Gerlach's goal was his 199th career point.
Riley McKay's 4th goal tied his career high in goals for a season.
UNSUNG HERO
Tristen Robins' 2 assist night were clutch helping Gary Haden score the winner. Robins also won a d-zone face-off with the Tigers net empty before getting the puck out to Riley McKay who sealed the victory with an empty netter.

The Blades travel west for their first visit of the season to Cranbrook to take on the Kootenay ICE Saturday night at 7:00pm/8:00pm MT. Next home game for the Blades is on Tuesday against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
