ICE Host Blades for First Time this Season

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE (6-10-2-1) host the Saskatoon Blades (11-7-2-0) for the first time this season on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.

The ICE are coming off of a 5-2 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday, November 9. Jaeger White and Martin Bodak scored the goals for the ICE while Peyton Krebs, Brett Davis and Brad Ginnell added the assists. Krebs assisted on both goals and was named the game's first star. Goaltender Duncan McGovern stopped 33-of-37 shots that came his way. The ICE were outshot 38-34. They went 1-for-3 on the power play, 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and won 32-of-54 face-offs.

ICE defenceman Jonathan Smart is expected to play in his 200th career WHL regular season game on Saturday.

The ICE have amassed 15 points this season, which is good for fifth in the Central Division and ninth in the Eastern Conference.

The ICE have a home record of 4-5-1-0

The Saskatoon Blades visit the Kootenay ICE for the first time this season on Saturday. This will be the second meeting of the season between the ICE and the Blades. Saturday's game is the final stop in a four-game road trip for the Blades, who previously traveled to Moose Jaw, Regina and Medicine Hat. Currently, the Blades are 2-1 on the road swing. Following Saturday's game, the Blades head back home and host the Tigers on Tuesday, November 13.

The Blades are coming off of a 3-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday, November 9. Max Gerlach, Riley McKay and Gary Haden potted the goals for the Blades, while Dawson Davidson, Kirby Dach and Tristen Robins added the assists. Robins recorded two helpers in the game. Goaltender Nolan Maier stopped 35-of-36 shots that came his way. The Blades were outshot 36-31. They went 1-for-5 on the power play, 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and won 29-of-56 face-offs.

The Blades have collected 24 points this season, which is good for second in the East Division and third in the Eastern Conference.

The Blades have a road record of 7-4-1-0.

HEAD TO HEAD

This will be the second meeting of the season between the ICE and the Blades and the first at Western Financial Place in Cranbrook.

The ICE are 2-3-1-0 in its last six games against the Blades at Western Financial Place. Overall, both home and away, the ICE are 3-8-2-0 in its last 13 games against the Blades.
