Former Cy Young Winner/30-Game Winner Denny McLain to Appear at Bisons Game

Major League Baseball's last 30-game winner DENNY McLAIN will throw the ceremonial first pitch and hold and autograph session at the Bisons game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Monday, July 28 at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.).

McLain will sign autographs for Bisons fans starting when gates open at 6:00 p.m. through the second inning, taking a short break to throw the game's ceremonial first pitch. Bisons fans will receive a voucher at the gates that can be redeemed for the autograph.

McLain pitched in parts of 10 seasons in the Major Leagues, including eight years with the Detroit Tigers from 1963-1970. A three-time American League All-Star, McLain won back-to-back Cy Young Awards for the Tigers in 1968 and 1969. He was also named the A.L. MVP after the 1968 season after going 31-6 with a 1.96 ERA and 28 complete games in 41 starts for the World Series Champion Tigers. No pitcher has won 30 games in a single season since McLain accomplished the feat.

Overall, McLain was 131-91 with a 3.39 ERA in 280 career big league games. He struck out 1,282 batters in 1,886.0 career Major League innings.
