
Former Butler Bulldog Eric Stout Joins Indy's Roster

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians announced today that left-handed relief pitcher and former Butler University starter, Eric Stout, has been activated on their roster. He was traded from Chicago (NL) to Pittsburgh on June 21 in exchange for cash and was optioned to Indy.
Stout, 29, attended Butler from 2012-14 and compiled an 11-12 record, 5.91 ERA (100er/152.1ip) and 120 strikeouts in 28 games (27 starts) in his sophomore and junior seasons. During his final collegiate campaign, he led the Bulldogs and finished tied for seventh in the BIG EAST Conference with 13 starts.
He also ranked fourth in the conference with 64 strikeouts.
After being selected by Kansas City in the 13th round (393rd overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, he made his way through the minor league ranks en route to his major league debut with the Royals on April 25, 2018 vs. Milwaukee. He has spent most of the 2022 season with Triple-A Iowa, where he compiled a 2-2 record, 3.94 ERA (13er/29.2ip) and 48 strikeouts in 16 games (one start).
Stout has appeared in the Royals, Padres, Reds, Marlins and Cubs organizations in his career before landing with the Pirates.
