Force Fall to Phantoms
February 12, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
Tonight the Fargo Force took on the Youngstown Phantoms for the first time this season. The first period was filled with defensive back and forth play, but it was until about twelve minutes in that all the action broke out. Denis Smirnov scored a rebounded goal with assists from Blake Lizotte and Grant Meyer. To the Force's dismay the Phantoms answered back a little over a minute later with two back-to-back top shelf goals, both goals were scored by defenseman Connor Moore. The Force held the Phantoms off for the remainder of the period, both teams only racking up eight shots on goal each.
The second period began much like the first. The Force put together strong attacks on power plays but struggled to capitalize. The Phantoms continued to put the pressure on and found a hole amidst chaos in front of the net during a power play. At 5:54 Cameron Morrison scored putting Youngstown ahead 3-1. The Force went into the third down by two goals. Unfortunately the Phantom's Noah Lalonde was able to put Youngstown's fourth puck past Wischow putting them up 4-1. After their fourth goal, the Force pulled Wischow and put in goaltender Robbie Beydoun. Beydoun held the Phantoms at four goals. The Force were unable to make a comeback and Youngstown scored an empty netter with 17 seconds to go in regulation. The Force fell to the Phantoms 1-5.
The Force are back at Scheels Arena to take on Youngstown once again tomorrow night at 7:05pm for the annual Purple-N-Pucks night, sponsored by State Farm Agent Gail Jordahl. The team will wear specialty cancer awareness jerseys that will be auctioned off live following the game with all proceeds benefitting Sanford's Cancer Survivorship. Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office open tomorrow at noon, tickets300.com, or the Tickets300 location on Broadway.
