Florida Shuts Out Generals 3-0 in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC - The Florida Everblades (35-25-10) defeated the Greensboro Generals (34-27-8) 3-0 in front of 4,586 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex on Sunday afternoon. Florida goaltender Jeff Maund stopped all 30 shots he faced and picked up his fourth shutout of the season. The Blades moved into a tie for second place in the ECHL's Southern Division with the win.

In the first period, the Everblades grabbed a 1-0 lead when defenseman Jared Newman's bad angle shot from the corner found its way between the legs of Greensboro netminder Jamie Hodson at the 4:13 mark of the period. Forwards Jay Legault and Chris Thompson registered the assists on Newman's 2nd goal of the season. Florida then made it 2-0 when John McNabb found Tom Buckley wide open in front of the net and Buckley jammed in his own rebound at the 5:07 mark. Reggie Berg picked up the other assist on Buckley's 7th goal of the year.

After a scoreless second period, the Blades closed out the scoring and made it 3-0 when Brent McDonald lifted a shot over the diving pads of Hodson at the 15:47 mark.

Florida goaltender Jeff Maund (20-11-3) picked up his fourth shutout of the season and stopped all 30 shots he faced while Greensboro netminder Jamie Hodson (16-10-0) stopped 33 of 35 shots. The Everblades were 0 for 6 on the power play while the Generals were 0 for 5.
