PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Blue Wahoos Stadium at 7:35 p.m. eastern.

Infielder Billy Fleming has been signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent and assigned to Jacksonville. Fleming previously played in the New York Yankees organization, and was released this year by the Yankees on May 7 while he was playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilks-Barre. For the RailRiders, Fleming played in 11 games, hitting .250 (10-for-40) with one home run and five runs batted in.

Fleming, 26, is a native of Churchville, Pennsylvania, and after playing in college at West Virginia, was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 23, 2014.

The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players.

The Jumbo Shrimp and the Blue Wahoos will continue their series with the second game of the five-game series on Monday night at 7:35 p.m. eastern. Right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet (3-3, 2.33 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Pensacola left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
