BOISE, Idaho, February 27, 2009 - Dontell Jefferson and Gavin Grant scored 22 points apiece to help the Utah Flash defeat the Idaho Stampede 107-92 in Boise on Friday night.
Kevin Burleson scored nine of his 17 points in the first half, helping the Stampede maintain a lead throughout much of the first two quarters. The Flash closed the half on a 10-3 run capped by a Jefferson jump shot which gave them a 45-43 lead going into the break.
Utah continued to build on their lead in the third quarter outscoring the Stampede 35-22. Ronald Dupree scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half. The Flash managed to shoot 49.3% from the field and outscored the Stampede 44-28 inside the paint.
"Give all the credit to Utah, they played a great and aggressive game, said Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates. "We will see them tomorrow."
Mohammed Abukar scored 18 points to lead all Stampede scorers. Luke Jackson recorded 16 points and Jamaal Tatum added 14 points.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow night, tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm MST.
