BayHawks Comeback Falls Short

ERIE-The NBA Development League Erie BayHawks (19-17) struggled to get on track and fell behind early then a late comeback effort fell short, losing to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (12-21) 112 - 104.

Maureece Rice hit a game high 29 points in the losing effort, that saw the BayHawks win streak halted at eight. Erik Daniels struggled shooting just 6 of 22 from the field, but still managed to chalk up another double-double with with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

The Vipers were led by Jawad Williams who shot 50% from the field (11 of 22) with 25 points including a pair of back to back three pointers that broke the back of the BayHawks comeback late in the fourth quarter.

The Vipers had a balanced scoring attack with six players in double figures including jared Jrdan with 18 and Craig Winder with 15 off the bench. Ivan Harris added 23 points and Jackie Manuel continued his iron man play with over 44 minutes in the game and 16 points.

The BayHawks return to the court for a special 11 AM tipoff in the School Kid's Jam on Thursday, March 5 at the Tullio Arena. Friday, March 6 marks the BayHawks Cavalier's Affiliate Night, with special appearances by members of the Cavalier Girls Dance team, Cavs Mascot Moondog, and the Scream Team hip hop dance crew, with tipoff set for 7 PM.
