Flames Fans Behind Success of Teddy Bear Toss and Aliant Telecom Night

December 10, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Saint John Flames News Release

Saint John, NB – The Saint John Flames hosted the third annual McDonald's Teddy Bear Toss this past Friday and Aliant Telecom Night on Saturday, two evenings with charitable themes that were both extremely successful.

Flames fans attending Friday's McDonald's Teddy Bear Toss Night tossed 915 stuffed animals on the ice after the Flames first goal of the evening. The stuffed toys will be distributed locally by the United Way of Greater Saint John to underprivileged children and seniors in time for Christmas.

Saturday's Aliant Telecom Night saw attending fans contribute 41 boxes of non-perishable food items to the Aliant Pioneer Volunteers food drive initiative. The donations will help support local food banks, families and individuals through the holidays.

The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John Flames' tenth as a member of the American Hockey League and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
