The Winnipeg Arena will be festive and busy during the holiday month of December. The Moose will play in the friendly confines of the Winnipeg Arena for the rest of the month as they host an eight-game homestand. The Moose December schedule starts off tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec. 11) with The Mackenzie Financial "Dash for Cash". Everyone in attendance will be eligible to be one of three contestants who will have one minute to pick up as many loonies as they can from the 10,000 loonies on the ice! All three contestants will keep the cash they pick up.
The Moose will be holding a Toy Drive at the games on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14 in support of the Children's Hospital. Fans attending the games will be encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game. Moose players will take the toys collected that night and distribute them during a special visit to the Children's Hospital on Wednesday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m.
On Sunday, December 15, the Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation will be holding a "Skate with the Moose" at Dakota Community Club. Fans will be able to watch the team practice between noon and 1:30 p.m., followed by an open skate and autograph session between 1:45 and 3 p.m. Tickets are $3 or $10 for a family of 4, available at the Moose office.
Red River College Student Nights is December 20. Red River students will get a discounted price on these nights if they bring their Red River Student Card to the Winnipeg Arena Box Office. They can also get the tickets through their Students Union. They will receive a $16 ticket for $10.
There will be two Husky/Mohawk hockey card giveaways nights in December. Each night fans will receive hockey cards for three different players and, that night, those same players will be featured at "Autograph Alley" after the game. Featured on Saturday, December 14 will be #81 Fedor Fedorov, #17 Justin Kurtz and #4 Darrell Hay with Saturday, December 21 including #22 Brian Chapman, #19 Jeff Farkas and #2 Regan Darby.
Saturday, December 21 will also feature several other promotions for the annual "Xmas Xtravaganza". The night will feature the second Kids Club Event of the season. Prior to the game kids will get to meet Santa Claus and participate in other pre-game activities. Much Music VJ and Winnipeg-born Brad How will be home for the holidays and will sign autographs at the game. Finally, the second Moose Mingle of the year will take place at Hometown Heroes. All fans attending the game are invited to stop by after the game and meet the players in person. The entrance to Hometown Heroes is located in the North West corner of the main concourse.
On Tuesday, December 31, the Moose will host their Annual New Year's Eve Game at a special time of 4 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early to this well-attended event!
