Flames Burn Wild Late, Win 2-1

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild (7-17-1-1, 16 points) were defeated by the Adirondack Flames (17-10-1-0, 35 points) 2-1 in front of 4,955 fans on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena. With the game tied 1-1 in the third period, rookie forward Emile Poirier scored at the 15:48 mark, lifting Adirondack past Iowa. Rookie forward Bill Arnold also scored for the Flames. Adirondack goalie Brad Thiessen (10-3-5) made 26 saves on 27 shots, picking up the road win. Despite stopping 28 of 30 shots, Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (4-10-1) recorded the defeat. Wild Captain Stephane Veilleux scored Iowa's lone goal. Iowa concludes its four-game home stand at 7 p.m. on Tuesday against Rockford.

The Flames opened up the scoring early in the first period when rookie forward Bill Arnold fired a shot from the slot to score at the 3:30 mark. Arnold's sixth goal of the year was set up by rookie forward Emile Poirier and defenseman John Ramage and gave Adirondack a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, Iowa drew even with Adirondack 32 seconds into the third period with a goal from Wild Captain Stephane Veilleux. Rookie defenseman Matt Dumba and forward Brett Sutter fed Veilleux the puck for his second goal of the season, tying the game 1-1. Adirondack recaptured the lead after a goal from rookie forward Emile Poirier 15:48 into the period. Poirier's sixth goal of the year was assisted by defenseman Sena Acolatse for the 2-1 final.

The Wild concludes a four-game home stand, hosting Rockford at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16. The team celebrates Taco Tuesdays, presented by Taco Johns. Each fan that comes to the game will be handed a coupon for a complimentary crispy beef taco from Taco Johns. In addition, Taco Johns will select one lucky fan to receive a six-pack of tacos and a pound of potato oles. It's also a two-for-one Tuesday, presented by Hits 99.9 FM, where fans may purchase one attack end ticket and get one free. The Wild are also hosting a "Toys for Tots" toy drive. Any fan that donates a toy will receive a ticket to a future Wild home game. Also, fans that bring a Subway receipt may purchase a ticket for $5.00 at the Wells Fargo Arena box office.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team's 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
