Sestito's OT Winner Lifts Devils over Phantoms

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- The Albany Devils came from behind twice to force overtime and Tim Sestito netted the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Sestito and Joe Whitney both registered a pair of goals as the Devils earned their first overtime victory since Jan. 6, 2012 at Norfolk.

Albany trailed 2-1 and 3-2 at different points of the third period. Whitney netted tying goals at 12:00 and 14:19 of the third frame.

In overtime, Sestito scored at 2:50 from Reid Boucher and Mark Fraser to end the Devils three-game skid. Albany improved to 12-9-1-4 overall.

Sestito finished with three points and Boucher and Paul Thompson both registered a pair of assists. In goal, Scott Wedgewood picked up his fourth win of the season and second in his last three starts. Wedgewood turned aside 29 shots.

Tyler Leier, Zack Stortini and Andrew Gordon were Lehigh Valley's goal scorers. Rob Zepp suffered the loss despite making 33 saves.

Notes

Tim Sestito registered his second three-point game of the season. His last came with a goal and two assists at Portland on Nov. 14 ... Joe Whitney netted his ninth and 10th goals and posted his second multi-goal game of the year. He leads the team with 22 points ... Paul Thompson registered his eighth and ninth assists and his 19th and 20th points ... Reid Boucher posted his sixth and seventh assists and his 11th and 12th points. He has four points (2g-2a) in as many games ... Scott Wedgewood improved to 4-4-1 overall ... Dan Kelly and Reece Scarlett both returned to the lineup after missing eight games with lower-body injuries ... Albany owned a 37-32 shot advantage and improved to 9-0-0-1 when scoring four-or-more goals ... The Devils went 1-5 on the power play and 3-3 on the penalty kill.
