St. John's IceCaps News Release

Troy Bodie scored the game-winner early in the second period and Antoine Bibeau stopped all 21 shots he faced as the St. John's IceCaps were blanked 4-0 by the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

IceCaps netminder Connor Hellebuyck made 20 saves in the setback.

After a scoreless first period, the Marlies found the back of the net 43 seconds into the middle stanza. Bodie located the puck behind the IceCaps cage and sent it toward the front where it hit Hellebuyck on the back of the leg and slipped passed the goal line.

Toronto pushed the lead to two later in the period as Tyler Biggs cut in on a breakaway and beat Hellebuyck high on the glove side with 7:47 left. Byron Froese added an insurance marker in the third period as he redirected a Stuart Percy clapper on the power play at 6:46. Spencer Abbott added an empty-net power play goal with 2:02 remaining to complete the scoring.
