
Anderson's 1st Professional Shutout Gives Sharks 1-0 Home Win

Worcester, MA .- The Worcester Sharks (11-12-2-0, 24pts) closed out their first 3-in-3 weekend of the season with a 1-0 win over the visiting Portland Pirates (14-13-0-0, 28pts) in front of 3,028 fans at the DCU Center on Sunday afternoon.
JP Anderson made 26 saves for his first professional shutout while Micheal Haley's team leading 9th goal of the season early in the second period stood tall as the Sharks broke a three game losing skid. Mike McKenna made 33 saves for Portland as the Pirates lost their 4th straight game.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first period as JP Anderson and Mike McKenna each has 11 saves in the opening frame. Each team also went 0-for-2 on the power play headed into the second period.
Worcester grabbed a 1-0 lead with a power play goal scored by Micheal Haley (10) at 4:22. Haley deflected a Bryan Lerg shot past Mike McKenna for the only score through 40 minutes. Worcester fired 15 shots in the second period while JP Anderson had 18 saves through 40 minutes of play.
Each team had eight shots on goal in the third period as JP Anderson made some key saves late to hold on for the 1-0 shutout win.
The Sharks overall record improves to 11-12-2-0, 24pts, and 7-5-2-0, 16pts at the DCU Center.
