Flames Among Volunteers Staffing Salvation Army Kettles

Saint John, NB – Saint John Flames players will be among the volunteers lending a helping hand to the Salvation Army by staffing Salvation Army Kettle locations around the city this Wednesday evening, December 4, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

The Salvation Army Kettles campaign helps raise funds for the Saint John Family Community Service Office. The Family Community Service Office supplies food baskets, toys, gifts and other assistance to more than 80 families in the Saint John area during the Holidays. The funds raised also help maintain year round programs run through the Community Service Office that include providing food, clothing and accommodations for victims of fire, abuse and other emergencies.

Flames players will be among the volunteers staffing the Salvation Army Kettles at McAllister Place, the Somerset Superstore, the Rothesay Avenue Superstore, Sobey's Catherwood, Lancaster Mall and the Parkway Mall NB Liquor Corporation outlet.

The Flames are back in action on McDonald's Teddy Bear Toss Night Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and on Aliant Telecom Night Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Jason Spezza and the Binghamton Senators. Tickets for these and all remaining Flames December and January home games are currently available at the Harbour Station Box Office, the Imperial Theatre Box Office, selected Irving locations (Main Street West, Champlain Heights, Millidgeville, Marr Road, Hampton and Grand Bay), and Charge-by-Phone at 657-1234 or 1-800-267-2800.

The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John Flames' tenth as a member of the AHL and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
