Five Warriors Heading to NHL Camps

Moose Jaw, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors have five players from this year's roster heading off to NHL camps this week.

Captain Denton Mateychuk is attending his second training camp with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mateychuk was selected by the Blue Jackets with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

The Blue Jackets are participating in the 2023 Traverse City Prospects Tournament, which will be held from Sept. 13-17 in Traverse City, MI. (Click here for a full schedule)

Mateychuk will be joined by former Warriors forward Martin Rysavy at the camp.

Brayden Yager and Atley Calvert are hitting the ice with the Pittsburgh Penguins this week. The Penguins will be at the 2023 Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, NY from Sept. 15-18, facing off with Boston, Ottawa and Buffalo. (Click here for a full schedule)

Yager was selected by the Penguins with the 14th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, while Calvert is attending training camp with Pittsburgh for the first time after suiting up at their Development Camp this summer.

Jagger Firkus is preparing to head to his second training camp with the Seattle Kraken. Firkus was a second round pick with the Kraken in the 2022 NHL Draft and signed his entry-level contract with the club earlier this year.

Details on the Kraken camp haven't been released yet.

Lucas Brenton is heading to his first NHL camp as a camp invite with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 20-year-old defenceman will be heading to the 2023 Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase with the Blackhawks. They will take on St. Louis on Saturday and Minnesota on Sunday. (Click here for more details)

Members of last year's team, Max Wanner and Ryder Korczak, are also preparing to head to training camp with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, respectively.
