Wheat Kings Trim Preseason Roster by Two
September 11, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
As the preseason continues, the Brandon Wheat Kings have gotten one step closer to finalizing the roster that will represent the club on opening night on Friday, September 22.
A pair of 2008-born players, forward Isaac Davies and defenseman Giorgos Pantelas, have been reassigned by the club, trimming the preseason roster by two. Both players were selected in the 2023 WHL prospects draft and were ineligible to be full-time WHL players this season.
Pantelas was one of two first round picks by the team in the most recent draft, selected 19th overall. He played in two preseason games, once as a defenseman and once as a forward, against the Regina Pats.
Davies, the team's fourth round selection in 2023, made his preseason debut on Friday, September 8, against the Pats in Regina.
Following his reassignment, Pantelas will return to RHA Kelowna and join their U18 team. He played with the U15 program last season. Davies, meanwhile, will try out for the Airdrie U18 AAA team in the Alberta Elite Hockey League. He was part of Airdrie's U15 AAA team last season.
The Wheat Kings won both games against the Pats this past weekend to move to 2-0 on the preseason. They will play two more preseason games, both against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Their final home preseason game will be Friday, September 15. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. CLICK HERE to pick yours up.
The home opener against the Regina Pats is on Friday, September 22, and tickets are on sale for that as well. CLICK HERE to secure your seat for the start of a new season of Wheat Kings hockey.
