Five Run Second Propels Lookouts Victory
August 25, 2021 - Southern League (SL)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
A five-run second inning has helped the Lookouts top the Smokies 8-3 in game 1 of their series at AT&T Field.
Outfielder Matt Lloyd opened the inning with his fourth home run of the season and second in his last three games. After an RBI base hit from Lorenzo Cedrola, an RBI single from Robbie Tenerowicz drove in a run and then a run-scoring double from Drew Mount capped the inning.
Earlier, Wilson Garcia hit his 13th home run of the season and now has an even 50 runs batted in on the season.
After allowing a pair of first-inning runs of his own, Lookouts starter Graham Ashcraft settled down to finish seven strikeouts across four innings. It's the first time since July 24th that the right-hander has had at least seven punchouts in a game.
Chattanooga & Tennessee will continue their series tomorrow night at AT&T Field when southpaw Connor Curlis goes up against Smokies righty Javier Assad.
