Five-Run Fourth Boosts Biscuits to 7-4 Win

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Montgomery Biscuits (15-7) overcame a 4-0 deficit with a five-run fourth inning to take down the Jacksonville Suns (10-12) by a 7-4 final Friday night at Bragan Field.

The Suns grabbed a run in the first and three more in the third to hop out to a 4-0 lead, but the early advantage would evaporate quickly in the top of the fourth inning.

Montgomery scored five times in the top of the fourth, thanks to a run-scoring single from Jake Hager and a pair of two-run doubles courtesy of Luke Bailey and Taylor Motter.

The Biscuits completed their scoring on the night with back-to-back RBI triples from Taylor Motter and Richie Shaffer in the top of the eighth inning.

Dylan Floro (W, 2-1) earned the win after going a season-best seven innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on eights hits, while not walking a batter and striking out three Suns. Jake Thompson (SV, 1) earned his first professional save, throwing two hitless innings to finish off Friday night's contest.

Andrew Heaney (L, 2-1) took the loss after allowing a season-high five runs (three earned) on six hits in 3.2 innings, while walking three batters and striking out three Biscuits. Joel Effertz would throw two scoreless innings in his first career Southern League appearance, with Tyler Higgins going the final 3.1 innings, allowing two runs (both earned) in the process.

Brady Shoemaker and Alfredo Silverio eached finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in Friday night's loss.

Rafael Furcal went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a run scored, but exited Friday night's game as a precautionary measure prior to the start of the top of the fourth inning after experiencing tightness in his groin.

Jacksonville and Montgomery will be back at it tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. ET at Bragan Field. The Suns will send out the right-hander Angel Sanchez (0-4, 5.89) to the mound on Saturday night, and he's due to be countered by Biscuits righty Jared Mortensen (3-0, 2.76).
