Barrett Kleinknecht and Mycal Jones have been transferred to Double-A

PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves INF Joe Leonard has been placed on the disabled list with a right oblique strain retroactive to April 23, and INF Barrett Kleinknecht has been transferred to Double-A Mississippi from High-A Lynchburg. OF Cedric Hunter has also been placed on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, and OF Mycal Jones has been reassigned to Double-A Mississippi from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Leonard, 25, was hitting .224 in 15 games for the M-Braves this season. He spent the 2013 season at Triple-A Gwinnett where he posted a .230 average with 22 doubles, three triples and 35 RBI in 119 games. Leonard was selected by the Braves in the third round of the 2010 draft out of the University of Pittsburgh.

Kleinknecht, 25, was hitting .222 with three doubles and a homer in six games for the M-Braves before being reassigned to High-A Lynchburg on April 14. A native of Florence, SC, Kleinknecht was selected by the Braves in the 12th round of the 2010 draft out of Francis Marion University. He spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons at Double-A Mississippi, hitting .219 and .238 respectively.

Jones, 26, was activated from the disabled list in Triple-A Gwinnett Tuesday, April 22. He struck out in a pinch-hit appearance that night. Jones spent the entire 2013 season at Double-A Mississippi. He posted a .261 average with 18 doubles, four homers and 36 RBI in 111 games. The Jacksonville, FL, native was drafted by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2009 draft.

Hunter, 26, had a .250 average through 18 games with the M-Braves this season. He had three doubles, a triple and two home runs. The Georgia native signed as a minor league free agent with the Atlanta Braves on January 24, 2014. Hunter was originally selected 2006 as a third-round draft pick by the San Diego Padres.

The Mississippi roster has 25 active players, 5 disabled and 1 ML Rehab.
