Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

Chattanooga Lookouts (10-12) starting pitcher Tyson Brummett (W, 2-1) continued his torrid start to the season by throwing seven shutout innings against the Birmingham Barons (10-12) in the team's 4-0 victory on Friday Night Fireworks in front of 4,826.

The Lookouts' offense gave their ace an early cushion in the first inning when Scott Schebler scored on a RBI double by Erisbel Arruebarrena.

Staked to a one-run lead, Brummett continued to put up zeros on the board. After surrendering two hits in the second the righty retired the next 16 batters he faced. He finished the night only allowing three hits and striking out six batters. The former Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher now has an ERA of 0.39. Brummett's ERA is now tied for the ninth lowest in all of Minor League Baseball.

Only up one run entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Lookout's offense padded their lead. Darnell Sweeney led off the inning with a single and then reached second on a passed ball and third on a bunt single by Jeremy Hazelbaker. The speedy infielder was then plated on a Daniel Mayora sacrifice fly. Chattanooga expanded their lead to four on another moon-shot by Schebler. The 2013 Branch Rickey Player of the Year has now hit four home runs since April 21st.

Reliever Pedro Baez (S, 5) took the mound in the ninth inning and earned his fifth save of the season. The Lookouts now have four shutouts on the year.

Tomorrow, the team will aim to take their second straight 3-0 series lead when they send lefty Chris Reed (1-1, 1.90) to the mound against righty Myles Jaye (0-2, 5.50) at 7:15 p.m.
