Jackson Generals News Release
MOBILE, ALA. - The Jackson Generals (11-11) dropped their second straight to the Mobile Baybears (13-9) Friday and were shutout for the third time this season, 3-0. Mobile entered Friday's contest with a league-best 2.88 ERA and they proved too much for Jackson in game two of the five-game set.
Mobile jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Mike Freeman scored on a two-out sacrifice fly by David Peralta followed by a wild pitch that scored Jon Griffin.
Steve Rodriguez doubled on a line drive to right that scored Justin Greene in the fourth to extend Mobile's lead to 3-0. That would be enough for BayBears hurlers Chase Anderson (3-2), who tossed 6.2 scoreless innings, followed by scoreless relief from Kaleb Fleck, Matt Stites and Jake Barrett.
Starting pitcher Jochi Ogando (0-2) went 3.1 innings in his second Double-A start. Ogando allowed four hits, three runs and four walks, while striking out three.
The Generals left seven runners on base in Friday's loss. Jack Marder (2-3) was the only Jackson batter with multiple hits. Jamal Austin (1-4, 2B) was the only Generals player with an extra-base hit.
