Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Biscuits (15-7) rallied from a 4-0 deficit and chased the Marlins' top-prospect, Andrew Heaney, from the game during a five-run fourth in a 7-4 win over the Jacksonville Suns (10-12) Friday night at the Baseball Grounds. The win is the Biscuits' third-straight.
Heaney induced a groundout for the first out of the fourth inning with the Suns leading 4-0. Luke Maile would then single, starting a string of five-straight batters reaching base safely. Alejandro Segovia followed Maile with a single. Jake Hager ripped a single to drive in the first run followed by Luke Bailey's two-run double - his first double-A hit - to bring the Biscuits within one. After Joey Rickard reached on an error and Willie Argo walked, Heaney was taken out of the game. Joel Effertz allowed a two-run double from Taylor Motter that gave the Biscuits a 5-4 lead.
Dylan Floro (2-1) got help from three double-plays that ended each of the first three innings, but the Suns were able to score once in the first and three times in the third to lead 4-0. Floro, however, was able to settle in. He went seven innings and struck out three for the win, while retiring the last eleven batters he faced.
The Biscuits added insurance in the eighth inning when Motter and Richie Shaffer hit back-to-back RBI-triples make it a 7-4 game.
Jake Thompson (1) threw the final two innings to pick up his first professional save. The Biscuits now have five different players with at least one save.
The Biscuits totaled 13 hits. Segovia finished with his first three-hit game. Motter also turned in a three-hit night while driving in three runs.
The middle-game of the series is Saturday night at 6:05. RH Jared Mortensen will look for his fourth-straight win while the Suns will send out RH Angel Sanchez who has lost four-straight starts.
