
Five Homers Blast Nuts in 13-8 Loss

Lancaster, CA. - The Lancaster JetHawks took flight against the Modesto Nuts in a 13-8 loss on Friday night at The Hangar.
The Nuts' (17-25; 43-69) pitching staff allowed five home runs to tie a season-high. After falling behind early, the Nuts plated seven unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead, but the JetHawks (27-14; 62-49) responded with nine straight runs to put the game away.
Brooks Marlow smoked a two-run homer in the sixth to give the JetHawks the lead back for good. In the eighth, the JetHawks opened up the lead with five runs capped by Drew Ferguson's three-run blast. Ferguson smacked two home runs and drove in six.
The Nuts had taken the lead in the fifth on Josh Fuentes' two-run double. He added a solo home run in the ninth. Shane Hoelscher went 4-for-5 with four singles, a run scored and a RBI.
Yency Almonte (L, 8-9) worked six innings for the Nuts and surrendered eight runs, seven earned, on six hits and four home runs.
Akeem Bostick (W, 3-1) went six innings surrendered seven runs on ten hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
Scott Weathersby (S, 1/1) worked the final three innings with six strikeouts out of the JetHawks' bullpen.
