Manchester, NH - Forrest Wall and Chad Spanberger drilled solo home runs and Yennsy Diaz tossed six scoreless innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) earned a split of a four-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) with a 7-2 win on Sunday.
Diaz (W, 7-6) earned the win with a long relief outing after Patrick Murphy started the game for the Fisher Cats (7-13). Diaz allowed just two hits while striking out seven batters.
New Hampshire started the game with three consecutive singles and scored a pair of runs. After base hits from Wall and Vinny Capra, Nash Knight ripped a single to left to plate a run. Capra reported home from third on a passed ball to give New Hampshire a 2-0 lead.
Portland (9-10) rallied to tie the game against Murphy. Charlie Madden had an RBI single in the second and Joey Curletta drove in a run with his single in the top of the third.
New Hampshire moved in front for good on a solo home run by Wall leading off the bottom of the third inning. The Fisher Cats tacked on three more in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Warmoth walked and stole second, then Brock Lundquist singled to make it 4-2. Wall followed with a walk and Capra singled to score Lunquist. Wall came across on a wild pitch.
