New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, N.H. - Despite back-to-back home runs from Cavan Biggio and Harold Ramirez, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) were outslugged in a 13-3 loss to the Reading Fightin' Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) on Thursday Night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Reading jumped out to a 6-0 lead, thanks in large part to a grand slam from Jiandido Tromp (Jee-on-DEE-doh Tromp) in the second inning.
Connor Panas led off the fifth with a sky-scraping home run to right field. His fifth long ball of the season made it 6-1, but the Phils re-extended the lead to 9-1 with a three-run homer from Zach Green in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the inning, Cavan Biggio blasted a 3-2 pitch over the right field fence for his league-leading 18th home run of the season. Harold Ramirez followed with a solo shot to straightaway center, and the Fisher Cats were back within 9-3.
Deivi Grullon made sure there would be no comeback, blasting a three-run homer in the eighth inning to make it 12-3. Reading added another with an RBI double from Emmanuel Marrero in the ninth against position player Nash Knight.
Jon Berti (2-for-4, 2B) recorded New Hampshire's only multi-hit game, while Reading tallied the most runs by any Fisher Cats opponent in 2018.
The Fisher Cats and Fightin' Phils square off again on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Jordan Romano will face LHP JoJo Romero, and an Atlas Fireworks show will follow the game thanks to Hyundai.
