July 5, 2018 - Eastern League (EL1)
Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Hartford, Conn - The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, has been informed by the Eastern League office that right-handed pitcher Peter Lambert has been voted Eastern League Player of the Month for June. The San Dimas, California native went 5-0 with a 1.16 ERA in five starts for the Yard Goats in the month of June. He was recently promoted to Triple-A Albuquerque and recorded his first win with the Isotopes in his debut last night vs Tacoma. Lambert is the first Yard Goats player to win an Eastern League monthly award and second to be recognized by the league as INF Brendan Rodgers was named EL Player of the Week on April 22nd.
Lambert is the first pitcher to win the award this season as Mets prospect 1B Peter Alonso (Binghamton) won in April and Blue Jays prospect 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (New Hampshire) won in May. He is also the third ever Yard Goats player to win an Eastern League monthy award. Rockies outfielder Noel Cuevas was EL Player of the Month in July of 2016 and infielder Ryan McMahon was EL Player of the Month in April of 2017.
Lambert, who turned just 21 years old in April and was the youngest player on the Yard Goats club, won his final five starts from June 2 through June 28. The former second round pick, became the first ever Yard Goats pitcher to register a 9-inning complete game on June 2 vs Altoona. He became just the second Yard Goats pitcher ever to record wins in five straight starts, joining Colorado Rockies lefty Harrison Musgrave (April 16-May 9, 2016). He also became the second Yard Goats pitcher ever to record 8 wins before the All-Star break, joining Rockies righty German Marquez who did it in 2016. In addition, Lambert tied the Yard Goats franchise records of consecutive winning appearances and longest winning streak for a pitcher. He currently leads the Eastern League with a 2.23 ERA and 0.99 WHIP and ranks second in wins (8) and innings pitched (92.2).
The Hartford Yard Goats continue their homestand at Dunkin' Donuts Park tonight (7:05 PM) and host the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs. Tickets for all home games are on sale by calling 860-246-GOAT (4628), by visiting online at www.yardgoatsbaseball.com, or in person at the Click It or Ticket Box Office at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
