Fish Add Uyechi to the Bullpen

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the baseball club has acquired right-handed pitcher Clayton Uyechi from the Maui Strong Warriors of the North American League for a player to be named later.

Uyechi, 23, posted a very impressive 1.65 ERA and 4-1 record in 27 games with Maui this season. He also had three saves. As a rookie last summer, the product of Waianae, Hawaii was equally as good. In 14 games, he had a 1.05 ERA and 1-0 record, along with one save. Over his two years in Maui, he complied 66 strikeouts in 60 innings.

In coming to Winnipeg, Uyechi is reunited with Goldeyes pitching coach Brendan Sagara, who was with Maui last season.

The Goldeyes now have 21 players on their roster, including 11 pitchers and 10 position players.

Winnipeg begins a three-game series against the St. Paul Saints tonight at Shaw Park. Game time is 7 p.m. The Goldeyes lead the Saints by two games for first place in the North Division.
