Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will look to extend their lead in the Western Conference and North Division standings with three games on the schedule this week. The 'Dogs will get a few days to rest before hosting the San Antonio Rampage (American Hockey League affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes) on Wednesday, February 3rd for a 7:30 PM contest at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs will then visit the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester on Friday, February 5th to take on the Americans (American Hockey League affiliate of the Florida Panthers) at 7:05 PM. The following night, Saturday, February 6th, Hamilton will meet their provincial rivals, the Toronto Marlies, for a 7:00 PM matchup at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.
Last week, the Bulldogs strung together four straight wins during a four-game swing through mid-western United States. The 'Dogs began their road trip with a convincing 5-0 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday, January 27th. Hamilton then travelled to Milwaukee one night later on Thursday, January 28th, and came away with a 4-1 victory over the Admirals. The Bulldogs got a day's rest before heading back to Illinois for a matchup against Chris Chelios and the Chicago Wolves on Saturday, January 30th. The game could not be decided in regulation or overtime, and a shootout was needed. Defencemen P.K. Subban and Shawn Belle converted for the 'Dogs, and goaltender Cedrick Desjardins stopped four of Chicago's five shooters to seal the 3-2 (SO) victory for Hamilton. One night later, the 'Dogs visited Milwaukee for the second time in four nights, and once again came away with two points, winning 3-2 over the Admirals.
