The York Revolution returned home after clinching a postseason berth by wrapping up a first half division title over the weekend, and began the second half much the same way with a 3-2 victory over the Somerset Patriots on Monday night at Santander Stadium. The game kicked off a seven-game homestand which will continue on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Following a formula that has led to many victories of late, the Revs jumped on the opposition early, scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning on a single up the middle by Johan Limonta for the early 2-0 lead. It marked the eighth time in the last nine home games that the Revs have scored in the first inning, and the seventh time in those eight that they've scored twice.

Somerset cut the lead in half in the top of the third on an RBI double to left by Ty Wright, but Revs starter Logan Williamson escaped a bases loaded jam, retiring Luis Montanez on an inning-ending double play, his second twin-killing rolled in as many innings. Williamson (2-2) also dodged a leadoff walk in the fourth and a one-out double in the fifth, battling to allow just one run over five innings to earn the win.

York's bullpen was terrific as Ian Durham retired all six batters faced in the sixth and seventh innings, and Stephen Penney stranded a pair of runners in the eighth, striking out Brian Barden looking on a call that Barden argued, resulting in his ejection and the ejection of his manager, Brett Jodie.

The Revs plated a crucial insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a two-out RBI single to left by Chad Tracy who picked up his team-leading 51st RBI of the year for a 3-1 lead.

Closer Rommie Lewis had to walk the tightrope in the ninth after Damaso Espino singled and Edwin Maysonet cracked a double off the center field fence to put runners at second and third with no outs. Lewis retired Scott Kelly on a groundout to short, bringing home Espino but keeping Maysonet at second base. After a walk to Jonny Tucker, Lewis rebounded to retire Cory Harrilchak on a pop up and Wright on a line drive to center, securing his 18th save of the season.

Patriots starter Matt Maloney (4-4) was solid in the loss, allowing no further runs after the first inning rally, working five innings on the night.

Limonta led the York offense going 3-for-4 with a double and the two RBI on his first inning single.

Wilson Valdez went 2-for-4 and stole third base twice while scoring two runs. His first steal came in the first inning and broke Scott Grimes' club record for single season steals as he notched his 29th of the year, before becoming the Revs' first 30-steal man in the eighth.

Notes: Eric Patterson also stole second on a double steal with Valdez in the first, giving the Revs three stolen bases as a team on the night. The Revs have now stolen 96 bases on the season, four shy of matching the club record of 100 set in 2007. Lewis' 18th save ties the second most in a season in club history (Michael Nix, 2011). The save is his 23rd all-time with York, also tying the second most in a career in Revs history, matching Franklin Nunez who pitched for the Revs in 2007 and 2008. York (42-29) improves to 5-3 on the season against the Patriots who were first half champs of the Liberty Division. Somerset owns a league-best 46-24 record, as their five-game winning streak is snapped. York is now 25-11 against Liberty Division opponents. Penney's appearance was his 150th all-time with the Revs, the franchise's all-time leader in appearances by a reliever. The Revs improve to 33-12 when scoring the game's first run including 16-4 at home when doing so. York right-hander Scott Gorgen (0-0, 1.93) will make his first start on Tuesday against Somerset lefty Matt Zielinski (7-2, 2.79). It is Shipley Energy Customer Appreciation Night, featuring a Tom's coffee mug giveaway courtesy of Shipley Energy. Tickets are on-sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
