Skeeters Fall 8-1 against Ducks in Series Opener

The Skeeters fell 8-1 in Game 1 of a three-game series against the Ducks tonight at Bethpage Ballpark. With the loss tonight, Sugar Land is now 2-8 against Long Island so far this season, 39-32 overall in 2014.

David Pauley (5.0,8,4,4,2,4) pitched 5.0 innings before receiving the loss tonight in the opening game of the series. The right-hander allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts before the end of his frame.

Left fielder Ryan Langerhans (2x5, R, RBI) started the game off with lead-off home run for the first run of the game for the Skeeters. With the homer tonight, the lefty now has hit four total on the season.

Ben Kozlowski (1.1,4,4,4,1,2) came into relieve Pauley in the sixth and allowed four runs on four hits with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched. Dan Meadows (1.2,0,0,0,0,1) entered with one out in the seventh for Kozlowski and tossed 1.2 innings without allowing a run or a hit before the end of the game.

On the Road Again:

Sugar Land will take on Long Island again tomorrow night at Bethpage Ballpark starting at 6:05 p.m. CT. After the loss tonight, the Skeeters look to even the series at 1-1 with a win in Game 2. Sean Gallagher (0-1, 4.00 ERA) will start on the hill for Sugar Land and looks to collect his first win with the Skeeters since joining the team last month.
