
Three Riversharks Selected to 2014 All-Star Game

CAMDEN, N.J.--Three members of the Camden Riversharks have been named to the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star roster, the league announced today. They will join the Atlantic League All-Star Team assembled to challenge the Sugar Land Skeeters on Wednesday, July 16th at Constellation Field in this Texas vs. East Coast showdown. Right-handed starter Jake Hale, centerfielder Alex Hudak, and right-handed pitcher Matt Gorgen were voted onto the team. Hale will be unable to participate due to injury and has been replaced by Riversharks relief pitcher, T.J. Hose.
The selections were made based through collaboration from fan, media and manager voting.
"We are very proud that three of our players' hard work and outstanding efforts have been recognized as they will be representing the Riversharks and showcasing their talents in the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game," said President and General Manager Adam Lorber.
Hudak, the sole position player representing the Riversharks, has earned his spot not only because of his bat, but his play in centerfield as well. Leading the team with a .311 batting average, Hudak is currently sixth best in the AL. Additionally, he leads the team in RBIs (37) and is currently second in homeruns (6) and third in stolen bases (4).
Gorgen and Hose have anchored the Riversharks bullpen throughout the entire season. Gorgen, the closer of the "ËSharks bullpen, has twelve saves on the year, which is tied for fifth in the Atlantic League. Gorgen also carries a team best 1.59 ERA and 25 strikeouts. Hose has compiled a 2.31 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 27.1 innings, as the bridge for Gorgen in the bullpen.
Hale, who needed to be replaced on the roster due to injury, was the top starter on the Riversharks during the first half of the season. Hale leads the team with five wins, 37 strikeouts, and 81.2 innings pitched.
