WALDORF, MD . - The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball released its roster for the 2014 All-Star Game today and three members of the Blue Crabs have made the squad. Infielder Amadeo Zazueta and relief pitchers Erik Hamren and Jim Ed Warden will represent Southern Maryland on Wednesday July 17 when the Atlantic League All-Stars take on the Sugar Land Skeeters at Sugar Land's Constellation Field.

Zazueta has been a mainstay in the Blue Crabs lineup since the beginning of the season and has shown the versatility to hit anywhere in the order. The Culiacan, Mexico native is hitting .264 this season and leads the team with 22 multi-hit games. This is the second time Zazueta has been an Atlantic League All-Star after making it in 2011 as a member of the Road Warriors.

Hamren has been extremely reliable in the later innings for the Blue Crabs. The former Major Leaguer is tied for the team and league lead with 35 appearances and his 2.48 ERA is third best on the team. The righty has 40 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched and is an All-Star in his first season in the Atlantic League.

Warden is an All-Star for the second consecutive season in the Atlantic League. The Blue Crabs closer ranks third in the league with 13 saves and fifth with 33 appearances while his 1.87 ERA is tops on the club. On May 29, Warden became the all-time leader in saves in the Atlantic League with 118 surpassing former Bridgeport Bluefish closer Mike Guilfoyle.

The Blue Crabs play 140 regular season games in the Atlantic League, considered the highest level of Minor League Baseball. Atlantic League players are "Major League ready" and in the last 16 years, over 600 players have graduated from Atlantic League clubs to Major League organizations, making the League a preferred route for experienced players to be scouted by Major League Baseball. The Blue Crabs play at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland. Please call 301-638-9788 or visit www.SOMDbluecrabs.com for more information and to save your seat at the ballpark today!
