Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, NE - Omaha's premier Independence Day celebration takes place Friday, July 4th at Rosenblatt Stadium, with the 24th annual Fireworks by Grucci display following the Omaha Royals 6:35 p.m. game vs. the Memphis Redbirds. The night will feature live music and a hilarious mascot, as well as exciting professional baseball, and will be capped off with the best fireworks show in the Midwest, presented by the Omaha World-Herald, the City of Omaha, Star 104.5 and the Omaha Royals.
The Rosenblatt Stadium gates will open at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fans will enjoy live music in Rosenblatt's front plaza by The Side Effects' until 6:15 p.m. The Confidentials will perform the National Anthem prior to the game's first pitch. That long-time popular local group will also perform from a stage in the right-center field bleachers between the end of the game and the fireworks display.
During the contest between the Royals and Redbirds, fans will be entertained by the world-famous BirdZerk! During the seventh inning stretch, "God Bless America" will be sung by the group Joan's Boys.
The Fireworks by Grucci show takes six days to set up and involves eight pyro-technicians, 35 firing batteries and 749 firing cues. The fireworks are electronically fired from a computer-generated script and are choreographed to a medley of American music, which will be broadcast on Star 104.5 FM.
Shuttle services will be running from the Westroads and Oakview Malls to Rosenblatt from 3:45-7:00 p.m. and back to the malls at the end of the night. The buses will leave from the Westroads' northeast parking lot near Dick's Sporting Goods and at Oakview's northwest parking lot near Lonestar. The round trip service costs $3, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Papillion Little League.
Field Box seats for July 4th, which were $13 apiece, are sold out. Reserved seats ($11) and General Admission seats ($9) are selling at a brisk pace. They may be purchased by calling the Royals ticket office at (402) 738-5100. Tickets are also available online at www.Oroyals.com and www.Etix.com.
