Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Nashville cruised by Memphis 5-1 Tuesday night at AutoZone Park behind a complete-game effort from starter Sam Narron.
Narron pitched eight shutout innings and was one strike away from a shutout when Jarrett Hoffpauir lined a double off the left field wall to score Josh Phelps from first base. Narron finished off the complete game one batter later to earn his fifth win of the year. The lefty gave up one run on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Brendan Katin led the Nashville offense going 3-for-4 with two RBI while Narron helped himself with three hits and a run scored.
Memphis starter Jaime Garcia took the loss after allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings. The Sounds beat Garcia for the third time in four games. Hoffpauir went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for the âBirds and Nick Stavinoha had two hits in his return from St. Louis. Stavinoha lined into a triple play in the second inning to become the first Redbird ever to hit into a triple play and the first Memphis professional player to do so since 1972.
The Redbirds are scheduled to send Anthony Reyes to the mound tomorrow night on a major league rehab assignment. Mark DiFelice gets the ball for the Sounds with game time set for 7:05 p.m.
