ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Columbia's rally fell short on Friday night at Spirit Communications Park. The Fireflies had runners at second and third in the bottom of the 10th, but stranded both and dropped the series finale 5-3 to the Tourists.
- Tony Dibrell and Conner O'Neil were impressive on the mound. Dibrell lasted six frames and recorded seven strikeouts. O'Neil punched out four batters in two innings out of the bullpen.
CATCHING FIRE: Hansel Moreno is currently on a seven-game hit streak, his best stretch of the season. The 21-year-old holds a .333 batting average during this span. He started the month of June with a .194 average and its now climbed to .240.
PROMOTED: Ali Sanchez was the most recent Firefly to receive a promotion to Advanced-A St. Lucie. Sanchez hit .328 over his final 16 games with Columbia. Here's the list of Fireflies who have earned promotions this season:

FERM-TASTIC: Shortstop Edgardo Fermin recorded hits in both games of the doubleheader on Thursday and has now hit safely in 11 straight games. The 20-year-old is hitting .364 (16-for-44) over the 11-game hit streak (since June 14). Fermin has smoked six extra-base hits in that span and five RBIs.
WELCOME BACK: Joshua Payne made his return from the disabled list on Friday night against Asheville. The righty tossed a scoreless ninth frame. This was the first appearance on the mound for the 23-year-old since May 12.
