GreenJackets Fall to Fireflies

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 3-2 to the Columbia Fireflies on Saturday night.

The game started in favor of the GreenJackets when they got out to an early lead in the second inning. With Orlando Garcia on third and Shane Matheny on first, Nick Hill doubled into the left field corner to score both runs.

It would remain 2-0 GreenJackets until the fifth inning, when the Fireflies finally scored on Joey Marciano. They pushed two across in the top of the inning to tie the ballgame at two. Marciano would go five innings, giving up five hits, two runs, and striking out four fireflies.

In the top of sixth inning, a Dionis Paulino solo home run put the Fireflies up by one. They would never surrender the lead as they held on for the 3-2 victory.

The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow for game two of the series against the Fireflies. First pitch tomorrow will be at 5:05 pm.

Tomorrow we will have ]Hot Cars/ Hot Rods Car & Motor Show. On the 2nd, Mr./Ms. Most American Pageant/Celebration will be held at SRP Park. To wrap up the homestand, will have an Independence Day bash followed by a Fireworks Extravaganza.
