Greenville, SC - Behind a three-run top of the seventh inning, the Charleston RiverDogs came back to defeat the Greenville Drive 3-2 on Saturday night at Fluor Field.

Both teams received strong efforts from their starting pitchers in the series opener. Kutter Crawford (2-4) matched a season-high with nine strikeouts for the Drive (4-6, 29-50), and he pitched into the seventh inning. Miguel Yajure allowed just two runs over six innings for the RiverDogs (6-2, 39-37).

The Drive broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth against Yajure. Jordan Wren led off with a ringing double to the right field wall and advanced to third on a bunt single by Kervin Suarez. Everlouis Lozada then lined a two-run double to left-center to bring home both runners.

Crawford held Charleston scoreless over the first six innings, but the RiverDogs made their move with one out in the seventh. After a walk to Dermis Garcia and a single by Jason Lopez, Chris Hess lined a single, and a Drive error in center field plated Garcia for a run. Following a pitching change, Carlos Vidal lined a two-run single to right to put the RiverDogs ahead.

The 3-2 lead stuck from there, as Dalton Higgins (3-2) and Kyle Zurak shut down the Drive the rest of the way, with Zurak notching his seventh save.

Marino Campana went 2-4 at the plate for Greenville.

Game two of the four-game series begins at 4:05 on Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field. Right-hander Hildemaro Requena (2-1, 6.27) takes the ball for the Drive, and the RiverDogs will start right-hander Janson Junk (2-1, 4.81).
