Saturday's Game Suspended, Double Header Scheduled for Sunday

Hickory, NC - Tonight's game was suspended due to playing conditions in the fourth inning. With the 'Dads trailing the Grasshoppers 7-2 in the middle of the fourth, a rain storm came through the area, causing the game to go into delay. After the rain subsided, the umpires and coaches decided to postpone the game for player safety.

The game will be resumed tomorrow afternoon at 3pm prior to the regularly scheduled game. The suspended game will pick up where it was paused and will be played to nine innings while the second game will be seven innings. The second game will begin no earlier than 5pm.

Tickets from tonight's game can be redeemed for any other 2018 Crawdads home game with an upcharge required for July 3rdand the Christian concert on July 21st.

The Grasshoppers took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning off Crawdads starting pitcher Tyree Thompson.

Ryan Dorow hit a two-out single to center to start a 'Dads rally in the bottom half of the first. Preston Scott's single advanced Dorow to second. Pedro Gonzalez stepped to the plate and hit the 'Dads third consecutive single and drive in Dorow.

The Grasshoppers scored three more runs in the top of the second to take a 6-1 lead.

The Crawdads cut into the deficit with a run in the bottom of the second. Yonny Hernandez singled to right to get things started. Bubba Thompson hit his ninth double of the season to bring Hernandez around to score.

In the top of the third the Grasshoppers pushed the lead back five with another run.

Tyree Thompson pitched all four innings for the Crawdads, giving up 7 runs (only 4 earned), six hits, and walking one.

Tomorrow is Church Bulletin Sunday presented by PDQ. Fans who bring a church bulletin will receive a discounted $6 ticket. The 'Dads will then donate $4 to that bulletin's respective church.
