ABOUT LAST GAME: Sunday's game between the GreenJackets and Fireflies was suspended due to rain. Columbia held a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth when heavy rain started to fall and stopped the action. Because the contest was not through five full frames, it does not act as a completed regulation game. The game will be picked up on August 31st at SRP Park.
SLIM MARGIN: The Fireflies and Power played three one-run games in late May (21-23). Columbia won in walk-off fashion on May 22. Edgardo Fermin tied the game, 3-3, with a solo home run in the eighth. The 20-year-old later delivered the game-winning hit in ninth.
AROUND THE BASES: Hansel Moreno produced the first inside-the-park home run in franchise history on Saturday. The 21-year-old also became the first to do it at SRP Park.
DOMINATION: Luc Rennie has been unstoppable over his last two starts.
- July 22: 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 14 K
- July 28: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 9 K
Rennie described his 14-strikeout outing as the best of his professional career. He owns a 0.65 ERA in five appearances with the Fireflies this season.
LIL FONZIE: Edgardo Alfonzo's nephew, Gio, is in the midst of one of his best stretches at the plate for the Fireflies this season. The 25-year-old is on a seven-game hitting streak after collecting two hits on Saturday. He holds a .375 batting average during this span (9-for-24). Alfonzo has been the ultimate utility player as well, playing six different positions this season.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: Andres Gimenez, a 19-year-old, is currently the youngest player at the Double-A level. The 2017 Firefly has played in seven games so far with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Mets top prospect collected eight hits over his last four games.
THE OTHER GUYS: The West Virginia Power have five players on the Pirates Top 30 prospect list.
