
Firebirds Host 2nd Annual "Pink out Night" in Flint

Flint, Mich. - The Firebirds return home to Flint Friday night for the second annual "Pink Out Night" at the Dort Federal Event Center. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. (ET) against the Mississauga Steelheads and great seats are still available.
The Firebirds are teaming up with the McLaren Flint Foundation to raise money to help the fight against breast cancer. The Firebirds are asking all fans to wear pink to the game. Fans can bid on the game worn Flint Firebirds' jerseys in a live auction that will take place immediately following the game with all proceeds donated to the McLaren Flint Foundation.
This weekend is also a "Firebirds Family Four Pack Weekend" featuring 4 Silver Level Tickets, 4 Large Pizza Slices, 4 medium soft drinks, 2 game night magazines and 1 parking pass.... a $102 value for $69 with advance purchase or $74 at the door.
Single game tickets for the Flint Firebirds 2016-17 season are $12 for Bronze, $15 for Silver, $19 for Gold and $25 for VIP seating. Prices are unchanged from last season and all seats are reserved / assigned seating. Players to watch:
Flint (4-3-0-1, 5th Western Conference): Ryan Moore (NHL draft eligible) leads the OHL with 19 points in eight games and is riding an eight-game point streak. Moore recorded his team-leading ninth goal of the season Thursday in Windsor and has scored in six straight games. Fourth in the league in points is Nicholas Caamano (Dallas Stars), who has 15 points in eight games and just ended a seven-game point streak last night. Kole Sherwood (Columbus Blue Jackets) is on a five-game point-streak, is third on the Firebirds' roster in scoring with nine points and five goals in as many games. Defenseman Mathieu Henderson has one goal and six assists and Jalen Smereck (Arizona Coyotes) has tallied seven assists in five games played.
Between-the-pipes, Connor Hicks is 2-1-0-1 with a .857 SAV% and a 4.76 GAA. Garrett Forrest is 1-1-0-0 on the season, sporting a .980 SAV% and a 0.57 GAA.
NHL: The Firebirds currently have two players that have signed contracts with NHL clubs. Forward Kole Sherwood signed a three-year NHL contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets (July 2015) and defenseman Jalen Smereck signed a three-year NHL contract with the Arizona Coyotes (October 2016). Flint's Nicholas Caamano was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the most recent NHL Draft in June 2016. Along with Caamano, Sherwood and Smereck, four more Flint Firebirds competed in NHL training camps this fall: Everett Clark (St. Louis Blues), Connor Hicks (Detroit Red Wings), Luke Kirwan (Detroit Red Wings) and Alex Peters (Carolina Hurricanes).
Samuel Duchesne, Jake Durham, Fedor Gordeev and Jack Phibbs are first-time eligible players to be selected in the NHL Draft in June 2017.
Mississauga (3-4-0-0, 8th Eastern Conference): The Steelheads are coming off of a high-scoring game against Guelph where they scored 11 goals en-route to an 11-3 victory over the Storm Wednesday night. Michael McLeod, a first-round draft pick, 12th overall in the NHL by the New Jersey Devils is one of the top skaters in the Ontario Hockey League. Followed by Nathan Bastian (New Jersey) who is the leading point-scorer for Mississauga after a five assist game Wednesday, increasing his point total to nine points in six games. Nicholas Hague, who is a top-prospect for the NHL Draft in June, recorded a hat-trick and a four-point night Wednesday and now has five goals and three assists in seven games played. Owen Tippett, also a top-prospect, is third on the team in points after a three-point night and has seven-points in seven games.
In net, Matthew Mancina made 38 saves on 41 shots in his last game against the Storm. Mancina has a 3-3-0-0 showing in six games and has recorded a 3.60 GAA and a .894 SAV%. Jacob Ingham is 0-1-0-0 with a 4.05 GAA and a .813 SAV% in two games played.
NHL: Mississauga's Nathan Bastian (New Jersey), Sean Day (New York Rangers), Michael McLeod (New Jersey), Jacob Moverare (Los Angeles), Austin Osmanski (Buffalo) and Vili Saarijarvi (Detroit) have been drafted by NHL clubs.
