Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick, MD-The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, played the Frederick Keys to a 5-5 tie Friday night only to have Ryan Finan blast a solo home run with two out in the 10th for a victory. Frederick's 6-5 win was its third victory in 11 tries against Salem.

The Keys bolted out to a 3-0 lead, two-thirds of which was tabulated by Finan. In the third inning, he took a Brad James 1-1 pitch deep to right center for a two-run home run and the three-run cushion.

In the fifth, though, Salem responded against Chorye Spoone. Orlando Rosales opened the inning with a single, the first Avs hit of the night. After Justin Tellam's base hit to left, Billy Hart cracked a double that brought Rosales home. The next batter, Cesar Quintero, bounced a ball to the second baseman Jonathan Tucker. That groundout scored Tellam and cut the lead to one. Next, Wladimir Sutil executed a suicide squeeze to bring Hart across and tie the game. Salem took the lead two batters later on a long RBI single from Mitch Einertson.

Salem doubled the lead in the sixth on a Hart RBI single only to have Frederick even the game in the home half on consecutive sacrifice flies against Salem righty Matt Sweeney. He relieved Brad James after four innings and a third when Matt Pulley scorched a liner off of James's hand to end the night for the righty.

With the score tied at five, the teams entered the 10th inning. Dan Lonsberry set the Avs down in order. Then, Gervacio subdued the first two batters he saw only to have Finan win the game on a 3-2 pitch.

It was the first home run against Gervacio this season and the first walk-off loss for the Avs since Frederick's victory on May 18th.

Offensively, Billy Hart tied a career high with three hits. Wladimir Sutil's 0-for-4 broke his 10-game hit streak

Salem tries to even the series Saturday at 6:30 when righty Sergio Perez faces right-hander David Hernandez.
