File Ks 10 over Eight Scoreless as Rattlers Shutout Loons

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Dylan File struck out ten Great Lakes Loons batters over eight scoreless innings on Friday Night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium to earn his fifth win of the season. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers right-hander got plenty of support from the offense and cruised to a 6-0 victory.

Wisconsin (15-19) went up early with a four-run second inning. Gilbert Lara started the inning with a single that extended his hitting streak to thirteen games. Zach Clark followed with a single. Then, Payton Henry moved his hitting streak to ten games with an infield single up the third base line. The throw to first was wild and Lara scored as Clark and Henry each moved up a base. Gabriel García was next and he cracked a double to score both runners. Later in the inning, García scored on a wild pitch for a 4-0 lead.

García added to the lead in the fourth inning. He tripled with two outs and scored on a balk by Great Lakes starting pitcher Max Gamboa.

Tristen Lutz made it 6-0 in favor of the Rattlers in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI single to score Devin Hairston with the final run of the game.

The Loons (10-22) didn't have a real threat against File until the eighth inning when the first two batters of the inning reached. File, who has now won four straight starts, got the first out of the inning with a flyout to center. Then, he finished his night with back-to-back strikeouts to stop the Great Lakes rally cold and allow him to reach double digits in strikeouts.

File allowed four hits and walked one while setting a new single-game high as a professional for innings pitched (eight) and strikeouts (ten).

Gabe Friese took over in the top of the ninth inning and tossed a scoreless frame to close out the game to give the Rattlers their first shutout of the season.

Joantgel Segovia went 3-for-5 on Friday night to continue his season-long offensive onslaught. The Rattlers outfielder has reached base in 28 of the 29 games he has played this season. He moved his current on-base streak to 25 games and his hitting streak to 14 games. Segovia's three hits bumped his batting average for 2018 to .409.

The win was the second in a row for Wisconsin.

The final game of the series is Saturday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Christian Taugner (0-4, 5.10) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Wills Montgomerie (-1, 1.61) is set to start for the Loons. Game time is 1:05pm.

Saturday is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Day at the ballpark and they will be at the park to meet their fans courtesy of North Shore Bank. The first 1,000 kids aged 12 and under to the game will receive a mask just like the Turtles wear while fighting crime. Timber Rattlers players and coaches will be wearing specially designed jerseys with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. These jerseys are being auctioned for charity online right now. After the game, children 14 and under may run the bases courtesy of Meijer.
