
Fightins stung by B-Mets

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils (78-57) saw the Binghamton Mets (74-61) score two runs in the top of the ninth that broke a 5-5 tie as they would lose 7-6 on Tuesday night. Reading still just needs a win over Binghamton to clinch the Eastern Division.
The Fightin Phils wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning as they took a 2-0 lead off Gabriel Ynoa. JP Crawford reached on an error by Ynoa then scored on a two-run home run by Andrew Knapp. The B-Mets cut the lead in half 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning as Vince Benome hit a two-out RBI double off Ben Lively that scored TJ Rivera.
Dylan Cozens homered for his second straight game as he hit a solo shot off Ynoa in the bottom of the fourth that gave Reading a 3-1 lead. Destin Hood hit a RBI double off Ynoa with two outs in the bottom of the fifth that gave Reading a 4-1 lead. Crawford scored on the play after beginning the inning with a single.
Lively left the game after 5 1/3 innings with the bases loaded. Reinier Roibal entered the game in relief. Joe Benson hit a two-run double that scored Josh Rodriguez and Brock Peterson that cut Reading's lead to 4-3. Jared King hit a go-ahead two-run single that gave Binghamton a 5-4 lead. Roibal had not allowed an earned run since 7/4 vs. Trenton (11 appearances).
Ynoa left the game after 5 1/3 innings with Angelo Mora on second base. Beck Wheeler entered the game in relief for the B-Mets. KC Serna tied the game at 5-5 on a squeeze bunt that scored Mora in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Edubray Ramos pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Roibal. Stephen Shackleford (4-2) entered the game in the top of the ninth inning with the game tied at 5-5. Brock Peterson put the B-Mets ahead on a sacrifice fly that gave them a 6-5 lead. Belnome hit a RBI single that extended the lead to 7-5.
Paul Sewald earned his 23rd save despite allowing a run in the bottom of the ninth as KC Serna scored on a fielder's choice by Andrew Knapp.
The Fightin Phils and Binghamton Mets will meet again on Wednesday night. First pitch is at 6:35 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:05 pm. Fans can also watch the game on MiLB.tv at 6:35 pm.
