Fightins lose on walk-off home run

The Fightin Phils (2-3) fell victim to the home run on a second straight night as Jack Murphy hit a walk-off two run home run off reliever Nefi Ogando (0-1) to give the Fisher Cats (5-1) a 5-4 win.

Roman Quinn led off the game with a triple off John Anderson to set up a one-out RBI single from Brock Stassi to give the Fightin Phils a 1-0 lead. Ben Lively allowed two runs in the bottom of the first inning as Ryan Schimpf hit a two-run home run with one out to give the Fisher Cats a 2-1 lead.

Gustavo Pierre tied up the game at 2-2 in the top of the 2nd inning as he hit a solo home run with one out off Anderson. The home run for Pierre was his first on the season. New Hampshire retook the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Jack Murphy hit a solo home run with one out off Lively to take a 3-2 lead.

The Fightin Phils retook the lead in the top of the 8th inning off reliever Cory Burns as Brock Stassi hit a RBI single to score Roman Quinn who hit a bunt single and stole second base prior to the hit. Cameron Perkins hit into a sacrifice bunt to score Carlos Alonso to give Reading a 4-3 lead.

Lively tossed six innings in his Fightin Phils debut as he allowed three runs off five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a no-decision effort. Ethan Stewart tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Ogando allowed the two runs in 2/3 of an inning.

The Fightin Phils finish their series and road trip with the Fisher Cats tomorrow morning. First pitch is at 10:35 am. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio AM 1240/FM 98-5 and fightins.com beginning at 10:05 am.
