Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

DAVENPORT, IA -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers banged out nine extra base hits (seven doubles, two home runs) for a 12-5 win over the Swing of the Quad Cities Friday night at John O'Donnell Stadium. Marshall Hubbard and Sebastien Boucher both homered and drove in three runs for the Rattlers. Wisconsin has won the first five games of their twelve game road trip. The Rattler win, coupled with Clinton's 6-2 loss at home to Peoria, puts the Rattlers into a first place tie with Clinton in the Midwest League's Western Division.

Mike Wilson started the Rattler second with a double. Asdrubal Cabrera's ground ball to the right side moved Wilson to third. Yung Chi Chen singled in Wilson for a 1-0 Rattler lead. After a walk and a wild pitch moved Chen to third, an RBI ground out by Boucher.

Wisconsin (28-20) also scored a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Josh Womack singled to start the frame. Rob Johnson, who had three hits on the night, doubled down the left field line to drive in Womack. Two outs later, Cabrera lined a double to left to knock in Johnson for a 4-0 lead.

Cabrera had an RBI single in the top of the fifth to make it 5-0 Rattlers. An RBI double by Hubbard made it 6-0 and chased Swing starter Quinton Robertson from the game. Reliever Jeremy Zick was greeted by a two run homer by Boucher. The homer was Boucher's first professional long ball and gave the Rattlers an 8-0 lead.

Quad Cities scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a wild pitch by Rattler starting pitcher Jason Snyder.

Rick Ankiel hit a two run homer in the bottom of the sixth to pull the Swing to within 8-3. Snyder would be finished after the sixth inning, but he pitched well enough for his fifth win of the season. The righty allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and struck out four without walking any.

Hubbard's fifth homer of the season, a towering two run shot down the right field line, put the Rattlers up 10-3 in the top of the sixth.

Quad Cities (27-20) scored an unearned off Rattler reliever Steve Grasley in the bottom of the seventh.

Womack drove in a run with a single in the top of the ninth. The Rattlers final run scored on a double play.

Cibney Bello gave up a lead-off homer to Simon Williams in the bottom of the ninth inning, but got the final three outs without any more damage.

Game two of the series is Saturday night. Casey Abrams (3-2, 5.66ERA) is scheduled to go to the mound for the Timber Rattlers. Quad Cities sends Mike Parisi (1-4, 4.91ERA) to the hill. Game time is 7:00pm.
