Daytona Tortugas News Release

JUPITER, Fla. - After being held to just one run in each of the last two games, Daytona erupted for three in the first inning alone, as the Tortugas defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads, 4-1, on Saturday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

With nobody on and two outs, 3B Jonathan India (1-5, R, 2B, SO) sparked the rally with a hustle double down the left-field line. Following a walk to 2B Alejo López (0-3, R, BB, SO), DH Stuart Fairchild (2-4, R, 2B, RBI, SO) plopped a single into center field. India scored, as López went to third, putting Daytona (30-25) in front, 1-0. 1B Bruce Yari (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SO) then sliced a double into the left-center field gap. Both men on-base crossed the dish on the two-base hit to make it a 3-0 Tortugas' advantage.

After Jupiter (16-36) cut the deficit to two in the third on a run-scoring triple to right by CF Victor Victor Mesa (1-4, 3B, RBI, SO), Daytona snatched the run back in the top of the fourth.

RF Andy Sugilio (0-3, R, BB) drew a two-out free pass to start the attack. SS José Garcia (1-4, 2B, RBI, 2 SO) proceeded to clock a deep drive to the left of dead center. The ball sailed over Mesa's head for a double, as Sugilio scored to stretch the Tortugas' edge back up to three, 4-1.

RHP Austin Orewiler (6.0 IP, 5 H, R, ER, 5 SO) continued his recent stretch of solid pitching. The 26-year-old issued just one run on five hits in six innings to earn his second win of the season. In his last five starts, Orewiler is 2-2 with a 2.33 ERA (7 ER in 27.0 IP).

The bullpen thrived, as well. RHP Julio Pinto (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 SO) hurled two spotless innings to earn the hold, while LHP Andy Cox (1.0 IP, BB, 3 SO) struck out the side in the ninth to collect his third Florida State League save.

All-Star RHP Jordan Holloway (4.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) faired well after the first inning, but it was not enough to save his night. The 22-year-old surrendered a season-high four runs in four innings and was saddled with his second defeat.

The Tortugas will look to capture the rubber match on Sunday. RHP Mac Sceroler (3-0, 3.77 ERA) is scheduled to make his fifth start of the year for Daytona. Jupiter is projected to counter with RHP Taylor Braley (0-3, 3.20 ERA).

The Tortugas Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 10:45 a.m. ET, leading up to the 11:00 a.m. ET start at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Sunday morning's contest can be heard on daytonatortugas.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.

Following the six-game road swing, the Tortugas will return to The Jack for a seven-contest homestand of their own, starting with four contests against the Bradenton Marauders, High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The series begins on Monday, June 3 with a Belly Buster Monday presented by Marco's Pizza. Starting at just $13, fans can enjoy all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and popcorn along with their game ticket.

Multi-game plans and single-game tickets are still currently available and can be purchased online at www.daytonatortugas.com, or by calling the Tortugas' Ticket Office at (386) 257-3172.
