
Duran Dominant Again, But Miracle Fall 1-0

LAKELAND, Fla. - Jhoan Duran tossed seven strong innings, but the Miracle were shut out by the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 1-0, on Saturday night at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.
The Miracle right-hander struck out eight and allowed a run on three hits. He allowed three hits. Over his last two starts, Duran (0-5) has surrendered just two earned runs on four hits in 13 innings and struck out 22.
Lakeland scored the lone run of the game in the fourth. A.J. Simcox led off with a double and Koby Clemens followed with an RBI single the other way into right center field.
Tarik Skubal (3-4) threw 88 pitches in just five innings, but held the Miracle off the board to earn the win. The left-hander allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out eight. Fellow lefty Max Green followed with three innings out of the bullpen.
Wladimir Pinto picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth inning. He walked Ryan Jeffers to open the frame, but struck out the next three.
Nelson Cruz went 1-for-4 in his first game with the Miracle on a MLB Rehab Assignment from Minnesota. He singled sharply into right center field in his first at-bat, struck out in his next two, and hit a long fly ball to the wall in left center that nearly tied the game in the eighth inning.
The Miracle left eight runners on base and went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position.
The three-game series concludes on Sunday afternoon in Lakeland with the rubber game. Right-hander Cole Sands will start for the Miracle in his High-A debut. First pitch is 1:00 p.m. ET.
